Stripe Fee Calculator
Calculate processing fees or "Reverse Calculate" how much to charge.
How This Tool Works
This calculator handles two critical tasks for online businesses: predicting processing fees from providers like Stripe/PayPal and calculating the "Reverse Fee" (gross up) amount to ensure you receive a specific net total.
- Standard Calc: Shows what you keep after fees.
- Reverse Calc: Shows what you should charge to offset fees.
How to Use
- Amount: Enter the transaction value.
- Fee Rate: Default is 2.9% + $0.30 (Standard Stripe/PayPal). Edit if you have a custom rate.
- International: Check this box if the customercard is non-domestic (adds ~1.5% fee).
The "Net $1000" Problem
You want to receive exactly $1,000 in your bank.
If you invoice $1,000, Stripe takes ~$30, and you get $970.
Using the Reverse Calculator:
• You should invoice: $1,030.20.
• Stripe takes: $30.20.
• You keep: $1,000.00.
Why This Matters
Small fees eat huge margins. Losing 3% on every turnover line item adds up to thousands per year. Understanding the true cost of payments helps in pricing your services correctly.
Limitations & Disclaimer
• Does not include potential dispute/chargeback fees ($15).
• Does not account for volume discounts you may have negotiated.
FAQs
The standard fee for US domestic cards is 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction.
International cards typically incur an additional 1.5% fee plus 1% if currency conversion is required.
It calculates how much you need to invoice a client so that AFTER fees are deducted, you receive the exact amount you wanted. For example, to receive exactly $100, you need to charge $103.30.
